5 Ideas for Designing the Ultimate Beverage Station

Today’s home buyers are looking for fresh ideas to update the old wine cellars of yesterday. The beverage industry is worth $146 billion dollars and many homeowners are looking for a space that really enhances their drinking experience. Kitchen refrigerators are great for storing food and frozen items but once you stock a 12 pack of sparkling water, a jug of orange juice, and a gallon of milk there often just isn’t enough room for the rest of your perishables!

A dedicated beverage or coffee bar will help keep drinks cold and the coffee flowing. Designating a space just for drinks is our favorite way to do this.

A coffee bar can provide extra counter space for prepping feasts and when it’s not time for the holidays this area can really just be a space to enjoy the ritual of preparing coffee or an alcoholic beverage. Mixers and espresso machines can take up a lot of valuable space in the kitchen proper.

Here are some ideas for designing a functional coffee or beverage bar:

1. Cabinetry for coffee mugs and wine glasses

Keep glassware and mugs handy in this space. You’ll also need room for the coffee filters, coffee beans and grinder, and a drawer for the corkscrew and teaspoons. You’ll wonder what you did with all of these necessities before you remodeled your space to include your wonderful new beverage station!

2. A beverage refrigerator

A built-in beverage refrigerator will help keep that white wine chilled for the next day. A beverage refrigerator gives you extra square footage to store your whites, sparklings, and sodas.

3. Wine racks

Farmhouse chic is still in style. Homebuyers will appreciate a rustic wine rack or two to stow away those bottles of red wine that won’t taste just right for another year or two. A stainless wine rack can also look very modern and tasteful in this space.

4. A sink and a dishwasher

An extra sink in this area is perfect for adding water to the coffee maker or rinsing out mugs. An extra dishwasher in this space can help elevate it and make it even more functional. Butlers’ pantries are very popular this year and make cleaning up after guests even easier. A beverage station provides valuable counter space and an extra dishwasher will help keep dirty dishes out of sight so that the kitchen area can be used for entertaining. This way, guests won’t feel obligated to chip in with after-meal clean-up. Out of sight, out of mind!

5. A place to store that bulky water cooler

Many homeowners are opting for water filtration services over bottled water. But the water coolers are bulky and seem to get in the way. We can help you design a space just for your cooler and the perfect place for it could be in your new beverage station.
