Our Home Design Predictions for 2025

The big thing for home design in 2024 was biophilic home design. We wrote article after article raving about the details of biophilic design principles as they relate to architecture and home design.

Now we see biophilic home design everywhere! From new coffee shops to hamburger restaurants, we even saw plenty of biophilic home design elements in the Big Brother home design for season 26 on TV this year!

It’s no surprise that biophilic design has seeped its way into 2025’s design trends and perhaps even claimed a permanent stake in what makes a customized home the ideal place to live.

Here are 5 home design trends we predict will be popular for 2025.

ARCHES

Biophilic design principles include circular patterns, arches, and other curved features like those in nature. Think of bubbles, waves, clouds, spirals, and rolling hills. If you can find it in nature, you can find it in home designs for 2024 and 2025. We predict we’ll be seeing curved kitchen islands and archways as opposed to the boxy, square-looking counters and arches that reigned in previous years.

NATURAL & ORGANIC MATERIALS

In 2024 unique earthy materials found their way into our homes. We saw jute, hemp, and bamboo have a major breakthrough in kitchens. We will continue to see chairs and light fixtures that include these natural materials but we predict that we will find them in even more places such as cabinet door fronts, flooring, and window treatments.

WET ROOMS & SHOWER ROOMS

Wet rooms were hugely popular in 2024 and we see them becoming somewhat of a standard with larger homes. In 2025, we believe that wet rooms will begin to be built into smaller homes.

Narrow shower and wet rooms are simple to build and don’t cost much extra but provide a luxurious spa-like bathroom. Shower rooms feature a bathtub and a shower in one room.

WARM WOOD AND AUTUMNAL PALLETS

Homeowners are trending away from the minimalistic and underwhelming cool white walls and pristine features that have ruled in previous years. Homeowners desire textured features, warm wood accents, and autumnal pallets. Look for off-white, beige, creams, and browns to steer you away from cool white and gray.

Add wooden elements like ceiling beams, paneling, trim, and millwork. You can also use gorgeous woods to build feature walls, cabinetry, and buffets.

OUTDOOR COOKING OPTIONS

When building your custom home, don’t forget about outdoor dining and cooking options. When the weather is nice in Oklahoma, homeowners like to take advantage of it by using their outdoor kitchens to cook. Add an outdoor kitchenette and grill for grilling out. Ask your home designer to include a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and a pizza oven for a unique outdoor living experience. Having more than one outdoor cooking option allows for several entertaining experiences and provides the opportunity for unforgettable memories.
