5 Cutting-Edge Custom Home Design Trends (Fall 2022)

Welcome to the back half of 2022! The custom home design trend is ever-evolving to keep up with client tastes, preferences, and demands. Design trends are rapidly evolving from what was fresh and modern in 2021 to early 2022.

Read on as we reveal what’s new this Autumn in custom home design trends.

CURVED ELEMENTS

Gone are the sterile, hard edges of home design from 2020-2021. Homeowners and custom builders are embracing curved design elements when creating custom homes.

Barrel vaulted ceilings, arched doorway openings, and curvier furniture are finding their way into modern homes. Custom kitchen islands are now being designed with curved edges and more intricate designs than the boring rectangle islands seen in recent years.

Curved design elements are even making their way into exterior designs. Brace yourself for much more of this popular home trend.

METALLIC ROOFING

Metallic roofing is coming in hot! Metal roofing is eco-friendly and lasts for a long time. They are also currently becoming quite stylish!

The future is here and the future is in metal roofs! Metal roofs can last anywhere from 40-70 years and are easy to install. With an extended roof lifetime, you can spend more of your home repair budget on other things (like that gorgeous new flooring) because you won’t need to worry about replacing your roof every 15-30 years like you would with an asphalt roof.

PATTERNED HARDWOOD

Two-tone is everywhere and they are back in patterned hardwood flooring. Another popular option is light hardwood.

BLACK ACCENTS ARE STILL BIG

Black accents make everything pop! It’s almost like tracing a drawing with a sharpie marker. Black trim and black awnings are still big. Black frames and black-lacquered door frames are currently trendy in interior design.

A BIOPHILIC DESIGN

Bring the natural world indoors by incorporating biophilic design into your home’s layout. Current design trends find us extending outdoor sitting and living areas, and adding sunrooms for plant health. Lots of windows are added to maximize natural light including corner-wrapped windows and floor-to-ceiling windows.
